A Love Letter to Dirty Hair

Hey Babe,

I know it’s been a long week and you’ve really taken a beating.

I’ve put you through hell - drowned you in dry shampoo and hairspray, contorted you into buns and braids, and you’ve been burned by that mean old flat iron one too many times!

Over and over I’ve complained about you not laying right or smelling a little ripe. I’ve freaked out about you leaving little parts of yourself all over my apartment, or totally ignored you for DAYS.

But it’s that time of the week again and I swear I’ve seen the error of my ways. So for that, I’d like to apologize.

So often you only hear the worst about yourself and I never take the time to give you the love you deserve, so here I am to say thank you:

Thank you for giving me the perfect base for curls and updos!

Thank you for giving me back an extra 20 mins to get ready every morning!

Thank you for attracting all of those compliments!

Thank you for only needing to be washed once a week (and for being so patient with me when it takes a couple of extra days to get to that wash).

Tonight is going to be all about YOU! We’re going to lather you up with the best of the best, slather you with the deepest of conditioners, then coat you in leave-in lotions and potions to soften and protect you…

before we start the torture all over again.
